Record Breaking Tattoos

Nowadays, almost anything can be made into a competition – including tattoos!

From having the world’s most tattoos, longest tattoo session, or even the oldest person to receive a tattoo – we’ll be taking a look at some of the most note worthy accomplishments from Guinness World Records.

The World’s Most Tattooed Man

A New Zealand man currently holds the title as ‘The World’s Most Tattooed Man’. Lucky Diamond

Rich shattered Guinness’s World Record in 2006 with over one thousand hours of tattoos covering 100% of his body. Lucky left home at a young age to avoid falling into drugs or poverty. He developed an interest and talent for performing arts. His specialties included juggling, sword swallowing, and riding unicycles. At age 16, Lucky got his first tattoo – a small juggling pin on his hip. After two years, he began getting tattoos as often as he could. Sooner or later, he began to run out of room in his flesh without a shortage of ideas. Lucky explains that several places on his body have 3-4 different layers of tattoos over one another. His first ‘large’ tattoo covered his entire torso. From there Lucky recalls inking over those colorful tattoos with a heavy black covering – then white over the black, then more colorful tattoos over the white. He’s been on an adventurous journey to ink every part of his body including his eyelids, genitals, inside his mouth and ears, even between his fingers and toes! Lucky didn’t intend to become the world’s most tattooed man, but he claims tattoos saved his life in many ways.

The Oldest Person to Get Tattooed

In 2016, 104 year old United Kingdom native Jack Reynolds decided he would get his first tattoo. Breaking the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to receive a tattoo! He opted for a simple design

in his own handwriting, “Jacko 6.3.1912”. Jack’s daughter and grandson also received the same tattoo to show support and solidarity. It was more than just a tattoo, however, each got inked in the name of charity. Jack fundraised a phenomenal $3,400 while getting tattooed and donated it to a local hospice care. “He doesn’t even like tattoos, but he wanted to do something special that would raise a lot of money,” Jayne Goodwin, Reynolds’ daughter, told Metro.co.uk.

The World’s Most Tattooed Seniors

Charlotte Guttenberg of Florida received her first tattoo at age 57. She didn’t stop there, however. She and her partner, Charles “Chuck” Helmke, each currently hold titles for the Most Tattooed Senior Citizens. Not surprisingly, the two met at a

tattoo parlor while Charlotte received her first of many tattoos.  The two’s paths seemed to cross at just the right place and right time, as both had recently lost their spouses. There was an immediate spark, and a mutual interest and passion for tattoos. Charles had started getting tattooed many years earlier, around the age of 18 when he had enlisted in the US army. The two went on to continue their tattoo journeys hand in hand – in 2017 Charles reported an impressive 97.5% of his body was covered in tattoos and Charlotte narrowly topping that with 98.75% of her body covered. Charlotte also holds the Guinness World Record for the Most Tattooed Woman Ever, and Charles holds the Guinness World Record for the Most Skulls Tattooed on the Body.
