More Than a Tattoo – Memorials

With the ongoing pandemic, more and more people are getting tattoos for a number of reasons. Whether it is for a sort of therapeutic release, to commemorate something personal, or as a memorial to a passed pet or loved one. At Creative Ink, we have had an overwhelming amount of memorial

tattoo inquiries in recent months. While some people opt for something small and simple, many clients seek the ultimate tribute – a realism portrait of their loved one or pet.

Significance of Portraits

Tattoos last a lifetime – portrait tattoos allow the memory of those that have passed to live on in the wearer’s skin. A permanent reminder of their significance and sentiment. Many also seek portrait tattoos to gain a sense of closure for their loss. At our shop, we take pride in making top quality portrait tattoos for our clients. We understand the emotional magnitude of creating such special tattoos, and take the utmost care to ensure our work exceeds client expectations. It is not uncommon for tears to be shed in our shop when dealing with such sensitive subject matter.

Our Process

All consultations / inquiries are done online, either via our shop’s social media or online contact forms. From there we will ask for multiple photos – that way we can choose the image that works best as a tattoo. Photos with natural lighting, good resolution / clarity and even contrasts tend to work best. That way we can ensure that it holds up well over time. Once a photo is agree upon, clients are instructed to book appointments with the shop. Designing will take place at the tattoo appointment. To do so, we

input the image directly into Photoshop. From there we overlay filters to create an exact replica of the image as a tattoo stencil.

Contingencies

Once an appointment is booked, the agreed upon photo or idea may not be changed. This is to ensure it is within our artists’ scope of work, and to ensure that we have booked a proper amount time. Our portraits typically require at least one full-day appointment, but more may needed depending on size and details. Not all photos will work for our tattoo process, hence why we ask for multiple so we can select the one best suited for the task. For further clarifications, please reach out to us directly.
